Kids Bring Crack to School, Claim Mom is Drug Dealer
Two elementary students took crack cocaine to class in Lawrence and said their mother was a drug dealer, according to an Indiana police report. A man found in the Lawrence apartment where the two boys lived was arrested on preliminary charges, including for cocaine possession and neglect of a dependent.
Lawrence police said the case began Wednesday morning when the boys, aged 7 and 10, took the crack to Mary Castle Elementary School.
The boys told police their mother had drugs, and they thought school was a safe place to turn the drugs in. Police said they got a search warrant for the apartment and found drugs inside.
The man's relationship to the boys and their mother, who was still being sought late Saturday, was not immediately determined.
The children were put in the custody of Child Protective Services.
The mother and the man found in the apartment are not being identified to protect the identity of the boys.
